Forever Shoosing

Out op shopping with Melanie on Tuesday(?) with the intention of buying DIY equipment for hooker heels (recently purchased), instead I scored these amazing Jelly shoes! Its funny how you search for years and when you stop they turn up at the Hospice shop for $2 dollars in your rare size (9-10)!! I think I've always craved these as I never had them as a girl : ) plus you can still admire my beautiful nails.

You Jelly??

Unfortunately we also visited the tempting Numberone Shoe warehouse where I fell in love with these Jennings boots (a take on the Jeffrey Campbell's Litas no doubt). At a greedy $60 I was  convinced that I would not buy them unless I DIY decorated them (as no one wants sad fakes) so I made a deal with the devil and decided I was allowed the boots as long as I brought the tools to DIY them that day! and If I didn't I would take the shoes back.

My search for spike studs was unsatisfying, with a $20 punk collar being my best beat (no one seems to sell singular spike studs) so I opted for star studs from Geoff's Emporium and while there nabbed me some cute little bottles of spray paint in silver, gold, green, blue and pink (all at $3 each)! I also brought little glitter pots, round jewels and spot studs but didn't end up using these.

Check out my next post for the DIY makeover of these bland heels !

Bloom Doom

This week I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday working at the new Bloom family festival in Matakana.
Amongst dressing kids up, taking photos and face painting I spotted this petrol spluttering, chain clanking, carny creation of the past hurling kids on tin seats until the motor died.

Surely this isn’t OSH certified?!

Nice to see there’s still a little bruising in child's play.

This Week's Buys

This week I ventured to Manukau's Salvation Army which I haven't done in years! If you've never been, GO! (or don’t, leave me all the good stuff ). Unfortunately I was in a bit of a rush but managed to grab one pair of hookery heels and a little china-town inspired dress in the most amazing colours.

I’m sensing some cheap thrills in DIYing these heels!

Banga Raya - Where they spoon feed you at 30

Tonight was my brother Sam's 30th Birthday and so celebrate all 30+ of us packed inside the seemingly bland Bunga Raya Restaurant. Three large round tables and half the restaurant later our hostess calmed our rowdy bunch and commenced taking our orders.
What looked to be a timid, petite Asian Woman soon denied my boyfriend his selected chicken dish as it was 'to hot for him' then proceeded to efficiently deny and accept our orders. The feast that that ensued was one of the best meals I've ever had! The rotti bread was delish and it seemed the curries kept coming! It was so lovely to have such a selection of vege dishes for me too!
Our hilarious hostess then spoon feed the boys as they refused to let her take the remnants of the curries.
All in all it was a great night with family and friends and a feast to live off for days!
